Today's podcast overview/transcript:
Good afternoon and welcome to another Potcast - following Cannabis news, stocks to watch as well as insights from thought leaders and experts.
Today's podcast features an interview with Eugenio Garcia, owner and publisher of HEMP Magazine about the 2018 Farm Bill, the recent collaboration between HEMP Magazine and Whole Foods as well as the Hemp industry as a whole.
Excerpt -
Let's talk about the 2018 Farm Bill which hasn't passed yet. What is the Hemp industry expecting from this new farm bill?
Eugenio Garcia
"Once aware of the "Hemp Language" attached to the bill we put the pedal to the metal realizing that once this bill is passed {the Hemp Industry} would go from a growing sector to a unstoppable crescendo. We think that the farm industry is a sleeping giant, but I think the greater population is not even aware of what the farm bill is, let alone that there is Hemp language within the farm bill that will lower the restrictions for farmers access to this plant and for industry to engage with this varietal. and that there will be a massive shift not only in industry and in agriculture but also in the ability for people to scientifically interact with the plant."
The 2018 Farm Bill which includes the Hemp Farming Act of 2018 is expected to pass in the coming month after mid-term elections. The bill would remove industrial hemp from the Controlled Substances Act, making the sale and distribution of hemp products in the United States legal. It would also legalize hemp cultivation, making CBD hemp oil more affordable and accessible for those in need.
What are some of the more exciting things you're seeing in the Hemp industry today?
Eugenio Garcia
"One of the sectors I think is about to explode is CBD for pets. We think that the pet industry is one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the nation. Incorporating CBD into the lives of pets is one of the fastest growing subsectors of the Hemp industry today."
